Cyanotype Workshop: Are you interested?

Screen Shot 2018-05-24 at 3.27.32 PM

Live in the Boston area? Artist Stephanie Todhunter, of Jerome Street Studios in West Medford, and I are working on offering a cyanotype workshop. Stephanie is providing the space and I will teach. We have not set a date yet, waiting to see how much interest there is. Since we need sunlight for this class, attendees will have to be willing to be flexible on when it will be held. Once we have enough people wanting to take the workshop we can set dates. Below is the course description.  – Susan Murie

Learn the Art of Cyanotypes with Artist Susan Murie.

In this intensive workshop you will learn the history and how-to behind the fascinating cyanotype printing process. Susan will demonstrate how to prepare paper and make and process prints. She will also share tips for getting the best results. Price includes all materials and you will go home with additional coated paper to expose, a sheet of 11″x14″ plexiglass with backing and a supplier list. You are also welcome to bring large black and white negatives, flowers and other objects.

Susan Murie is a Boston area artist. Her work was recently shown at Art@Freepoint x Maud Morgan Arts and The Curated Fridge. She is an artist in the 2018 Community Supported Art program in Cambridge.

Workshop Information
This 3 hour workshop is WEATHER DEPENDENT. We need to have a sunny day so the prints will be able to develop properly. If you would be interested in taking this workshop, please contact me. Once we have 4-6 interested people, we will set up a series of dates that work for everyone (ie first choice, second rain day, third rain day). This type of workshop is rarely offered due to the logistics- but I’m extremely excited about the possibility.

Please email me directly if you are interested! – Stephanie Todhunter

jeromestreetstudios

I can’t wait to be in this show with these amazing artists!  Plus, Galatea’s new director is our very own Hilary Tait Norod (JSS alumni), so you know the event will be fun.

Opening Reception: April 6, 6-8pm

First Friday in SoWa: the art and design district of Boston- all the galleries will be open.  It’s so much fun to walk around and see all the new shows…

Delicacy is a multidisciplinary exhibition, showcasing the work of five New England mixed media artists. A common thread among the artist’s can be found in their studio practices through the works execution and subject matter. Explored ideas of intimacy and delicately applied techniques resonate in the work.

The five artists are Jenny Brown of Providence, Rhode Island, Daniel Zeese of Somerville, Massachusetts, Stephanie Todhunter of Medford, Massachusetts, Cory Munro Shea of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Susan Emmerson of Dorchester, Massachusetts.
