Pop Up Restaurant a big success !

popuprestaurant2Jerome Street Studios’ first ever pop up restaurant was a huge success!  Last night four local students cooked up a delicious meal under the supervision of Tanya Howard.  The table was beautifully set, the food was very tasty and the waitstaff was friendly and hard working.  Thank you for a lovely evening 🙂

The fun and very low tech process of carving and or melting wax into interesting shapes to form a pendant or charm is surprisingly simple. With just a little instruction and a few tools that will be provided, you can make a super cool piece for yourself or someone special. Think simple shapes, like Elsa Perretti’s work for Tiffany’s. No idea where to begin? No problem, I’ll have plenty of ideas on hand that are easy and straightforward for any level of designer. I’ll guide you through the process, and once your work is done I’ll cast your piece in sterling silver and finish it to a high shine — glittering like something out of a jeweler’s case!

$120.00 wax and carving tools included*

*Your finished sterling silver piece will be an additional cost based on it’s weight and size. Approximate range of sterling silver finished piece $45.00 – $100.00
Gold casting upon request.

For registration and class information, please contact Sheila Corkery.

Closing reception: Drums on Paper

The closing reception for Drums on Paper is this Sunday in Brooklyn NY (if you are down in that part of the world).  I was able to make it to the opening reception last month and it was SO much fun!  I met  Cem Kocyildirim of Authorized To Work.  I also got to see the risograph printer and the inks- it was all very retro and cool.  Plus Park Slope Brooklyn is pretty damn cool in general. AND I met AM DeBrincat in person- an artist I’ve been crushing on for a few years.  Overall an excellent evening out (and Sheila Corkery was a lovely companion for the trip)…
-Stephanie Todhunter

Risographs prints are available for purchase either through the Ground Floor Gallery, Cem’s online shop:  Authorized to Work and around NYC via the Authorized to Work Mobile Art Gallery:

Authorized to Work in the US Press

I’m so excited to be participating in this event!  I will have prints available for purchase all month through Authorized to Work in the US.  The owner, Cem Kocyildirim, makes the most amazing risograph prints (never heard of a Risograph?  check it out here: welcome the riso.) Plus I  might have to pick up one of his very cool t-shirts…

In addition to the online store, there will be a brick and morter show at the Ground Floor Gallery in Brooklyn starting tomorrow evening (Thursday, Sept. 28th).  I’m driving down with our very own Sheila Corkery for the reception (and maybe a little NYC shopping- although Sheila’s idea of fun NYC shopping is a five story Japanese ribbon warehouse.  What?)    -Stephanie Todhunter
