This series was developed in response to the anti-choice policies currently gaining ground across the country. The release of this “Choice” series intentionally aligns with Mother’s Day, seeking to celebrate and support organizations fighting to retain the right to choose both if and/or when to become a mother. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these series will be donated to support the work of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in their fight to advance reproductive freedom and sexual health care.

Boston Area Mixed Media artist Stephanie Todhunter collaborated with local potter Lori Gardinier to create these one-of-a-kind pieces. The choice series consists of wheel-thrown functional pieces that combine decorative elements with social and political commentary. Stephanie Todhunter created the “Choice” imagery by digitally collaging her original lost girls with 70’s-style fonts and Victorian-era medical illustrations. Designs were transposed onto rice paper to create mid-fire underglaze transfers. Underglaze images were transferred to leather hard clay, bisque fired, glazed, and then fired again to approximately 2100 degrees Fahrenheit.
