We are only 10 days away from our spring open house, and in anticipation we will be introducing our participating artists (both in-house and guest).
MEET THE ARTIST:
Earl joined Jerome Street Studios in 2016.
“The first time I tried pottery was when I was on a vacation at Martha’s Vineyard in 1991. I visited the studio of a local potter and he let me try throwing.
He gave me a quick lesson and then I spent about 45 minutes trying to make my first pot. It was very difficult to center the clay, but so exciting to start with a lump of clay and end up with a small, thick and slightly lopsided bowl.
I liked the way the clay felt in my hands and how you can guide the shape of the pot with the amount of pressure you use. I was hooked, and I knew that it was something that I wanted to pursue in the future.
Six months later, I went to holiday sale at the Feet of Clay pottery studio in Boston. I decided right then to become a member so I could continue exploring pottery.
Over the years, I’ve gotten help and advice from fellow potters, classes I’ve taken, as well as doing my own research and have been refining my skills as a potter ever since. “
