We are excited to welcome Elaina to Jerome Street Studios. She is a talented and enthusiastic addition to our community!
As far back as I can remember the act of creating has always brought me joy and the idea of becoming an artist came into my head early on. In my fourth grade art class we were learning about Georgia O’Keeffe and I was instantly mesmerized by her paintings and inspired to be an artist (I still have the chalk pastel drawing I did that day). Fast forward 10 years, as a senior in college I held my first solo exhibit as part of my honors thesis: “Abstract Painting: Giving Form to the Intangible” which again sourced some inspiration from O’Keeffe and her work.
Since then I have continued to create, with oil paints being my main medium of choice. I love working with bright, bold colors, varying textures and take a lot of inspiration from flowers and nature. I am constantly experimenting with different styles, mediums and techniques. Currently, I am experimenting with alcohol inks to create hyper vibrant, abstract paintings.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in a variety of arts organizations including Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, the Arts League of Lowell, and the Cambridge Art Association. I am so excited to have a studio space again (that is not in the corner of my kids’ play room) and join the other talented artists at Jerome Street Studios!
